DVDVideoSoft Free Netflix Downloader Tool For Windows Released

DVDVideoSoft has released Free Netflix Downloader tool for Windows to let users download videos off Netflix. Here are the details.

Netflix may have pushed forward its own proposition by introducing offline video downloads for specific videos on mobile devices a number of weeks ago, but in the minds of some Netflix subscribers that simply doesn’t go far enough. Rather than being able to only download very specific content on mobile devices, Windows-based subscribers have been looking for a way to get any Netflix video downloaded onto their machines.

netflix-downloader

Step forward DVDVideoSoft with its new ‘Free Netflix Downloader‘ tool which does exactly that. There are no real prizes on offer for guessing what this tool is designed to do.

After all, it most definitely falls into the category of having its name give away its functionality. When logging into Netflix, users are simply asked to copy the URL of the video and then enter it into the easy-to-use interface on the ‘Free Netflix Downloader’ tool. The software then goes to work by hitting Netflix’s servers and downloading the video to the user’s machine for viewing at a later date, completely offline.

Additionally, the software, which Alex of DVDVideoSoft describes as “the ONLY app in the world that can do this trick now!”, also offers conversion abilities with the options to covert the downloaded video into AVI, MP3, or a version that’s specifically optimized for iPhone or iPad. There’s also full support for multiple downloads to allow Netflix subscribers to grab multiple files at a single time, and is specifically being aimed at either people with slow Internet connections, or those who simply like to store media on their machines for consumption at a time that’s more convenient to them.

The software itself is nowhere near as good as Netflix’s own download functionality in its mobile apps. The quality of the video that’s downloaded is less than adequate, and is by no means up to the same standard that subscribers are used to watching when streaming via Netflix’s own app or website. But the advantage here is that you get full digital copy of Netflix’s video which you can convert and playback whichever way you like and on whichever platform you prefer instead of being limited to using Netflix own mobile apps for the official offline video functionality. DVDVideoSoft says that they will add ability to download videos in higher quality in future updates.

Of course, it’s highly likely that Netflix won’t exactly be happy about the existence of this tool. There’s been no pushback from Netflix yet, and certainly no cease and desist order put in place or requested. However, if this takes off, and Netflix tracks more downloads coming from ‘Free Netflix Downloader’, then it’s likely the company will act to try and close this down.

For now though, you can download Free Netflix Downloader for Windows from: dvdvideosoft.com/free-netflix-downloader.htm.

Reader’s Choice Poll: The Best Smartphone Of 2016 Is?

As the end of 2016 draws near and 2017 looms on the horizon, thoughts are beginning to turn to appreciating what the past 12 months have given us and unfortunately also what they have taken away.

In the world of technology alone, 2016 has been a huge year for many of the biggest names in the industry, and when you further narrow the thinking down to just smartphones released this year, then it’s clear that it has been both kind and cruel to the household names which dominate the market.

2016-best-smartphones

Smartphones have penetrated the lives of so many people at this point, and with some huge releases throughout 2016, we find ourselves wondering which of those smartphones we’d call the best, but then we wondered which would be yours.

When it comes to choosing the best smartphone of the year, there are so many things to consider. Is the most expensive, most feature-rich smartphone automatically the best or should attentions instead turn to mid-range handsets which offer excellence in many ways, but on a budget? With dedicated cameras almost defunct for some people as mobile photography becomes potent and convenient, is a phone’s ability to snap a great shot the most important factor when judging which smartphone to grab?

With the decision clearly so difficult, and at times even confusing given the range of comparison, opinions and tests lurking on the Internet in bucket loads, making the right choice is perhaps far too important for just one person or even a small group.

With that in mind, we’ve taken an option available to us. We think the only sensible way to come to a verdict on the best smartphone of 2016, is to ask you, yes all of you. Is the iPhone 7/7 Plus the overall best the industry had to offer during the year, or was the less expensive but premium-looking OnePlus 3T, or even the Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Google’s Pixel range offered a better overall smartphone to consumers? I, personally, cannot decide, but I’m hoping that you can.

So, which one according to you was the best smartphone of 2016? Cast your vote and let the world know!

Your favorite smartphone from 2016 not listed in the poll above? Drop the name of that smartphone in the comments below!

Rumored Jet White iPhone 7 And iPhone 7 Plus Shown Off On Video?

With the release of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus earlier this year, Apple took the opportunity to add a Jet Black version to the lineup. An addition that has proven to be extremely popularity in spite of the fact that it is susceptible to micro abrasions that makes it look scratched.

Not long after that release, a number of questionable reports surfaced suggesting that the Cupertino-based company could extend the lineup further with the addition of a ‘Jet White’ version of the two devices. That clearly hasn’t happened yet but the speculation has now resurfaced thanks to sketchy video that shows what a Jet White version of the devices could look like.

Jet White iPhone 7 Plus

The recently surfaced video shows the chassis of both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as depicted by the size differences and the fact that the larger device has the extremely popular iSight-Duo camera in place on the rear.

However, both are coated entirely in what it is believed could potentially be representative of the Jet White exterior that has been talked about on a number of occasions, should Apple see fit to release such a device. In this particular piece of media, the larger iPhone 7 Plus clearly has the Apple logo printed in the standard position. The smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 7 does not.

Rather than be official test models sporting the Jet White exterior, it’s more likely that these are simply mockups of what the iPhone 7/7 Plus in Jet White could look like. A number of shopping and auction sites currently sell cases almost identical to the ones being shown in the video, with and without the Apple logo on display.

It’s still a total unknown if Apple is indeed considering appending the current iPhone 7 range with a Jet White version. Both the Jet Black and Black versions of the device have proven to be extremely popular with consumers. It’s highly likely that a Jet White version would be equally as popular considering it’s a change from what we’ve been given over the last few years, and definitely wouldn’t show up those micro abrasions as much as the Jet Black variant.

Maybe Apple will introduce the new color variant with iPhone 8 late next year?

San Francisco Restaurant Starts Serving Food On An iPad, Literally

In what might go down as one of the most bizarre decisions ever made by a Michelin star awarded restaurant, Quince in San Francisco has started serving food using iPads as plates.

Yes, that’s right, rather than allowing patrons to actually order food on a dedicated app loaded onto an iPad, this particular restaurant is trying to appeal to a younger crowd by literally bringing food to your table on one of Apple’s iPads. There’s no doubting the quality of Quince as a restaurant and the food and experience that it provides. The establishment was recently awarded a third Michelin star earlier this year, which in itself showcases the talents and qualities that the restaurant has.

iPad-Pro

However, there’s clearly a challenge being faced by the restaurant in how to attract a younger diner through the doors to sample the delicacies that are currently offered on Quince’s menu. Rather than experiment with lower prices or offer a menu that’s more tailored to the younger generation, this particular restaurant is choosing to pioneer serving actual food on an actual iPad.

And this isn’t just any food. You can’t book a table at Quince, walk in and expect to receive an iPad plate for just any meal. The restaurant is serving just one dish from the menu on an iPad called “A Dog in Search of Gold”. Don’t expect to receive an iPad Pro with burger and fries on top of it either. The idea here is to use the iPad to compliment the meal, which is described as being “white truffle croquettes on iPads playing videos of water dogs on the truffle-hunt” by Chef Richie Nakano.

So while you are tucking in those stunning truffle croquettes, you get to visualize the hunting experience that led to those truffles actually being found and made available for order.

ipad-truffles

Aside from the fact that it seems like total madness to use an expensive piece of equipment like an iPad to serve food on, there are some clear and obvious concerns to be raised with this idea. Can the device possibly be protected against damage and abrasion from the customer’s cutlery? Also, are there any health and safety regulations in place to ensure that each iPad is washed thoroughly between servings to make it acceptable and hygienic for the next white truffle lover? This isn’t the first time a restaurant has used this tactic, but we aren’t exactly sure we want it to catch on.

Apple Watch Owners Get New ‘Ring In The New Year’ Fitness Challenge

Apple has started to notify Apple Watch owners of a new ‘Ring in the New Year’ Activity challenge that is designed to ensure that physical activity and keeping active plays a large part in owners lives this new year.

In a similar fashion to an Activity challenge posted for Thanksgiving, Apple is looking to tempt Apple Watch owners into getting up and being active on a daily basis by not only offering an Achievement recognition, but also giving access to unique iMessage stickers once the Achievement has been earned.

apple-watch-achievement

Accessed via the stock Activity app, the new achievement has been given the title, ‘Ring In the New Year’, and is designed to try and get Apple Watch owners up and moving for seven consecutive days.

The aim of the challenge is for owners to try and close all three Activity rings each day for a full week. If that is achieved, Apple will then not only reward the Apple Watch owner with this special Achievement which will be accessible and immortalized forever through the Achievements section of the app, but as mentioned earlier, also additional gifts to be used in iMessage conversations, as it did on Thanksgiving.

The notification being received on paired iPhones reads:

Earn this special achievement when you close all three Activity rings each day for any full week, Monday to Sunday, in January. You’ll also earn special stickers in the Messages app.

IMG_2842 copy

If the challenge isn’t showing up in your Activity app just yet, then don’t feel the need to worry and panic. You aren’t going to miss out on the sense of challenge and achievement, and you’re certainly not going to miss out on those “special stickers.” The new challenge is showing up periodically, but should be accessible by all Apple Watch owners worldwide by midnight local time on December 28th. That should give you a few days to mentally prepare yourself to hit the challenge head-on, but more importantly, to plan your attack on just how you’ll get all those Activity rings closed for seven consecutive days in the new year.

Plenty of people make health and fitness promises to themselves as part of a new year’s resolution. This year, Apple is looking to kick start those promises with a little friendly push in the right direction.

iOS 10 Jailbreak Tweaks: 5 New Releases To Check Out On Cydia

iOS 10 jailbreak cycle seems to be in full swing now. Here is a mix of five new and updated jailbreak tweaks on Cydia for you to check out on your newly jailbroken device.

iOS 10 has seen quite a few jailbreak demos, but until recently, there was no publicly available jailbreak solution for the firmware and its subsequent updates. If you headed warnings and stayed on or below iOS 10.1.1, you’re most likely to have used the new Yalu + Mach_Portal jailbreak to unshackle your compatible iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device already.

Cydia-iOS-10

As is the case with most jailbreak tools, the initial releases of Luca’s solution had their share of problems, though after the subsequent beta releases, things are beginning to look up. Old jailbreak tweaks are beginning to be updated for iOS 10 while new ones make their way to the Cydia store as well.

While we’d still advise waiting for the first stable release of Todesco’s jailbreak tool, if you’ve already made the jump, you might as well start reaping its benefits in full. Fortunately, it seems developers have been busy over the holidays as we have a mix of five new and updated Cydia tweaks to share with you. Not a bad start for this jailbreak season.

iCleaner Pro Beta (Free, Ivano Bilenchi’s Beta Repo)

Everyone’s favorite storage cleaner makes its way to iOS 10 with a new beta release, which also adds support for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus as well as a few improvements and fixes. You can download iCleaner Pro Beta from the Ivano Bilenchi’s Beta repo over at ib-soft.net/cydia/beta.

Remember, this tweak, just like the jailbreak itself, is in beta. Proceed at your own risk only.

Cuttlefish (Free, BigBoss)

Cuttlefish is a new cosmetic tweak that adds a little more color to the background blur that takes effect when you invoke an app’s 3D Touch (or Quick Actions) menu. In fact, it actually matches the color of the blur to that of the app’s icon. The tweak is available for free on the BigBoss repo.

Evanesco (Free, BigBoss)

This new addition by CP Digital Darkroom aims to protect the privacy of your Home screen by making icons fade out of sight after a defined period of inactivity. If you aren’t all that concerned about keeping your collection of apps safe from prying eyes, the tweak doubles as a way to show off more of your wallpaper. Evanesco is free over at BigBoss.

StatusSwitcher (Free, BigBoss)

A simple tweak that forces the status bar to be shown within the app switcher, StatusSwitcher is available for free on the BigBoss repo.

Apps Manager (Free, BigBoss)

This old app data management solution, now updated to play well with iOS 10, allows you to back up, restore, wipe, import and export app data, and remains free on the BigBoss repo.

New Apple HomeKit-Compatible Home Automation Accessories Announced, Here Are The Details

Any individual who doesn’t have any type of home automation or intelligent control in their homes already will surely be looking to get something going in the New Year. Even if it’s on a very simple entry-level.

With Apple looking to progress its iOS platform with a focus on home automation and intelligent living, manufacturers are starting to look very closely at the type of hardware they can produce to tie in with Apple’s HomeKit. LEDVANCE and Fibaro are just two of the many new players in town taking the opportunity to introduce new devices before the end of 2016.

apple-homekit-homes

LEDVANCE Sylvania Smart Multicolor Bulb

This announcement by LEDVANCE is definitely likely to excite those who have been looking for an intelligent lighting system that’s entirely independent of any additional hub hardware. The Sylvania Smart Multicolor A19 bulb is not only Apple HomeKit-enabled, meaning that it can be controlled by Apple’s Home app within iOS as well as voice controlled by Siri, but it is also very much a plug-and-play type bulb, meaning unlike Philips Hue it requires no additional hub or bridge to function. Those purchasing the bulb are simply asked to screw it into an existing light fitting, synchronize it with HomeKit, and start to enjoy the benefits that it brings.

The Sylvania brand will definitely be familiar to most people, with this new bulb being the output of the LEDVANCE’s Smart Home Americas division. Rather than looking to build something entirely proprietary that has its own app and its own ecosystem, LEDVANCE has most definitely embraced HomeKit by working with Apple to ensure that it offers a product that “works directly with the Home app.”

sylvania-logo-png

In addition to multiple colors and this intelligent level of control, there’s also the usual ability to set scenes and activities which will work in conjunction with other HomeKit-enabled hardware in the home.

It’s likely that this A19 bulb, and the subsequent range that will follow, will replace the company’s existing smart bulb range which requires an additional hub. The bulb will be available early next year for a yet to be disclosed price.

Fibaro Flood Sensor & More

fibaro

If you have your intelligent lighting or smart camera already in place in your home, then how about sensors that are all individually designed to monitor, detect and notify about certain things? That’s where Fibaro comes in and wants to have you covered with these three newly announced sensors. In addition to a new Motion Sensor and Door/Window Sensor, Fibaro is introducing a unique Flood Sensor that will work with iOS 10.2’s HomeKit Notifications support to directly notify owners when flood water or leaks are detected.

The Flood Sensor is equipped with gold telescopic probes that detect water as soon as it appears and allows the device to function on uneven surfaces. Featuring an LED indicator along with an acoustic alarm signal to alert users of flooding or tampering, the wireless device can also trigger a smart home scene and notify a user of a problem through the Fibaro app or Apple’s Home app.

The three contraptions will also be demoed by Fibaro at the CES 2017, while it looks to push the Flood Sensor out into the market before the end of the year for $69.99 in the United States. The Motion Sensor and Door/Window Sensor will cost $69.99 and $59.99 respectively.

Check out the video of all three sensors embedded below.
