Video Shows 30 iOS 11 Features Apple Should Bring To Its Next Generation Mobile OS

A new video posted online shows 30 iOS 11 features that Apple should consider for the upcoming version of its so called world’s most advanced operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.

It may be a little earlier than usual, but some people are already starting to wonder what Apple is working on ahead of iOS 11 which is anticipated to be announced during WWDC next year. Apple tends to announce the new software, issue a beta program, and then spend the next few months honing new additions and fixing bugs before a public release around September time.

What we’re saying is we are still a long way off seeing iOS 11 in beta, let alone final form. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to speculate. And speculation is exactly what one YouTuber has been up to. In a new ten-minute video, we come across ideas and hopes that are put forward for what iOS 11 should bring to the table.

In fact, there’s been so much thought gone into the video that there are no fewer than 30 different features in this wishlist of sorts. Some are possible, some are likely, some are downright unlikely to find their way into iOS at all, let alone next year’s iOS 11, but hey, Christmas is just around the corner!

There are far too many hopes and dreams going on in the video for me to list each and every one here, and frankly that would take away from the fun of watching the video so be sure to check it out – I’m pretty sure that there will be lots on there that you too would like to see.

So what would I like personally? Well, a system-wide dark mode would be swell, and it’s actually one I can imagine Apple adding at some point given the rumors surrounding OLED iPhone 8, and we know how good black looks on OLED! I’d also like more granular controls of notifications too, but that’s one I think is less likely. I can hope, though.

iOS 10.2 Beta 5 Features, Changes And Known Issues

Now that iOS 10.2 beta 5 is available, here we take a look at new features (if any), changes, and known issues that Apple has packed in this release. Here are the details.

Apple’s recent release of iOS 10.2 beta 5 has us edging ever closer to the final, stable release that Apple will make available to punters who want to get the latest and presumably greatest version of iOS onto their iPhones and iPads. Following the beta program that has seen both developers and testers get some time to put iOS 10.2 through its paces, we’re hopeful that Apple is now starting to run out of bugs to squash. From the official changelog, it seems fixes are very much the order of the day with beta 5.

One thing of note that we found particularly interesting was the quick release of iOS 10.2 beta 5, coming as it did just a few days after beta 4 was made available for download. We can only assume that the reasons for such a quick turnaround boil down to wanting to fix bugs quickly rather than have to wait for the normal release schedule to trundle around, so well done Apple for the proactive approach.

So what exactly has Apple done in iOS 10.2 beta 5? According to the official changelog of iOS 10.2 beta 5:

Changes:

– The TV app should no longer crash or show “TV is unavailable” on iPod touch.
– Syncing with iTunes 12.5 through 12.5.3 should no longer delete TV app library content.

Known issues:

TV app cannot be restored after it is deleted.

The inclusion of a known issue there suggests Apple knows there is still work to do before iOS 10.2 is ready for primetime. Whether that means we will see a beta 6 is unclear at this point, but we would be very surprised if users wouldn’t be able to restore the TV app after it was deleted in the final, public version of iOS 10.2.

iOS 10.2 will be come with an all-new TV app instead of the dated and relatively unused Videos app, new emojis and more iMessage effects as well as UI changes for the Music app.

How To Install Happy Chick Emulator On iOS 10 Without Jailbreak

Step 5: Downloading a game ROM is as simple as selecting the title that you’re interested in, viewing the necessary information, and then tapping on the large Download button at the bottom of the display.

Step 6: Once downloaded, you can then simply invoke the game within the emulated experience by going into My Games tab and tapping on “Play” button.

Download: Apple Releases iOS 10.2 Beta 5

Only few days after releasing beta 4 seed, iOS 10.2 beta 5 is available to download right now for compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices from Apple Developer Program portal.

This latest beta comes approximately a month after Apple introduced iOS 10.2 for the first time, and looks to further progress the said firmware in order to get it into a position where Apple feels it can be consumed by the masses on a truly global scale.

As you might expect, this fifth beta of iOS 10.2 serves as a progressive update that looks to push iOS 10.2 forward and eliminate as many bugs and flaws from the system as possible. Rather than actually introduce any new changes that haven’t already been noted in iOS 10.2, beta 5 simply continues the path that Apple had already started walking down when the initial developer seed was pushed out more than four weeks ago. With that said, iOS 10.2 itself is a notable upgrade.

Among some of the new additions in iOS 10.2 is the inclusion of new and improved emoji characters, such as the stunningly detailed avocado, as well as new faces such as the rolling face, the selfie icon, a hilarious face palm emoji.

As always, registered developers can access the dedicated Apple Developer Portal to get their hands on the latest iOS 10.2 beta. Apple Activation Lock Bypass On iOS 10.1.1 Has Been Discovered, Here’s How It Works

Couple of Apple Activation Lock bypass have been discovered, with iOS 10.1.1 – the latest public version of the firmware – also being vulnerable to one of them.

First, let us explain what Activation Lock is on iOS devices. Introduced first with iOS 7, Apple’s Activation Lock is a really handy feature that lets users lock their iPhone or iPad from a remote location if it has been lost, stolen or just temporarily misplaced with fear that it may be in malicious hands.

It’s designed as a way of protecting a device, but as mention earlier, security researchers have found a way to bypass that feature using a previously unknown bug in Apple’s ecosystem.

Security researcher Hemanth Joseph became the first person to knowingly come up with a solution to bypass Apple’s Activation Lock feature after purchasing a second-hand iPad from eBay. It’s unknown if the attempt was deliberate or not, but it seems that Joseph was able to crash the entire security software layer on the locked device running iOS 10.1 by entering a ridiculously long string of characters into the iPad as a password for the Wi-Fi setup process.

When a Activation Locked device is powered on, as part of the usual process, the system allows a user to select a WiFi network and then input the correct credentials to gain access to the Internet. User is then asked to provide the correct Apple ID credentials with which the device is locked so that it can be cross-referenced remotely with Apple’s servers for disabling Activation Lock and regaining full access to the device.

However, in this instance, Joseph was able to trick the system by selecting “Other Network” from the list, and then entering excessively long strings of text into the “Name”, “Username” and “Password” fields. This created an unexpected overflow error. This overflow error alone isn’t enough to bypass the Activation Lock, but by using the Smart Cover to turn the screen on and off during the overflow error, Joseph was able to crash the security layer completely and gain access to the device’s Home screen. This bypass was discovered in iOS 10.1 back in November with Apple allegedly fixing the issue with the release of iOS 10.1.1.

The second discovery is even more dangerous, as it even works on iOS 10.1.1. Vulnerability Lab has been able to recreate the above exploit on iOS 10.1.1 using screen rotation lock and Night Shift mode to gain access to Activation Locked iPhone and iPad running iOS 10.1.1.

It’s by no means a perfect solution that provides unlimited access to the device, but as has been proven now that it can still be made to work on iOS 10.1.1, Apple will now have to issue a quick emergency bug fix update to fix this vulnerability completely.
