Fix For Pokemon Go Delayed Loading Issue Coming In An Update, Team Suggests Workaround

Pokemon Go team has confirmed delayed loading issue in the game. While the permanent fix is being worked on, the team has suggested workaround for the time being. Here’s what you need to know.

Nintendo and Niantic’s Pokemon Go may not be the huge phenomenon that it was a few months ago, but it still has a healthy fanbase that continues to roam the streets looking to pick up that rare Pokemon before anyone else can. The game is still hugely popular the world over, so when gamers start to experience problems during their Pokemon hunting, Niantic is sure to hear about it.

Pokemon-GO

That’s exactly what is happening right now, with many Pokemon Go fans reporting that they are experiencing an issue with the game that causes delayed loading. Nobody likes latency, especially when they’re trying to “catch ’em all!”

In an attempt to get out ahead of the story before the world, or at least the internet, goes into full blown meltdown mode, Pokemon Go team has sought to quell fears that the game is hosed for good by letting the user-base know that developers are aware of the issue and that a fix is being worked on. The other good news is that there’s a workaround that users can follow in order to get things moving. The bad news? That workaround is simply restarting the game.

Trainers, there is a known bug causing delayed loading. We are working on a fix. As a workaround, you can restart the app in order to play.

As far as workarounds go, that’s one of the biggest cop-outs going, but if it does make the game playable again, then it’s certainly better than nothing. A real fix is preferable though, so here’s hoping the developers at Niantic have their thinking caps on for this one.

It is possible that the delay so far has been due to the Generation 2 update rumored to be just around the corner. Now that the developers have tweeted out an acknowledgement of the issue, we’re sure a fix will arrive soon enough.

Download: Kodi 17 Krypton Beta 6 Now Available

Kodi 17 beta 6, dubbed Krypton, is available to download and install now and this beta can even be installed straight over the top of your current install, so no need to start from scratch.

The latest beta version of the ever-popular media center software that sprung up from what was once called XBMC, shows that version 17 is edging ever nearer to a final release. The folks behind Kodi have been working on this new release for some time now, and whilst there are still likely to be some bugs here and there that require squashing, but that is what beta releases are for.

kodi-17-beta-1

Expect any bugs found this time around to be worked on for the next release. Remember folks, this is why reporting issues during beta programs is so important.

Kodi v17 brings with it a host of changes and improvements, and beta six, in particular, fixes a good few issues that arose during previous betas. When the process is complete and Krypton is ready for primetime though, users can look forward to improved “video playback, live TV and PVR/DVR, the music library, more” with skinning also receiving plenty of work.

In fact, Krypton features two new skins – Estuary and Estouchy. The former is a new default skin for this release whilst the latter is specifically designed for touch input. And for beta 6, the new skins have got another revamp dubbed “Next Gen”. You can see the tweaked skin in the screenshot below.

For full list of changes and fixes in beta 6, check out Kodi 17 beta 6’s GitHub page here.

As always, we suggest only the die hard fans of Kodi install the beta release unless you happen to have a spare device laying around that you can dedicate to running the software. Please don’t go installing this on the main device you use for enjoying content – it’s just asking for trouble.

The final, stable release will be here soon enough and you really don’t want that tainted by any issues that could arise as part of using pre-production software.

But if you are feeling adventurous, you can head to kodi.tv/download to grab the new Kodi 17 beta 6.

Detailed tutorials on how to install Kodi on different platforms can be found below:

Google Santa Tracker App Updated For Christmas 2016, Here Are The Details

Google has updated Santa Tracker app in time for Christmas 2016, with both Android app and the web version of the tracker now live. Here are the details.

Just in case you have managed to avoid the mayhem that is Christmas shopping so far this year, we are now edging our way into December which means it’s almost time to start getting ready for all the fun and frivolity that comes with it. Google feels your pain though, so it’s once again trying to make things as fun as possible, and while we’re sure its Santa Tracker app is aimed at little kids, we’re sure that big kids can play along too.

google-santa-tracker

Google has today updated its Santa Tracker app for Android to give it some new features that will seem instantly familiar to fans of Pokemon Go, because they are very similar indeed.

For example, users can play the Present Quest mini-game which lets them wander around, collecting presents and then dropping them off at Santa’s Workshop. It’s a fun little diversion that uses augmented reality in a way similar to the aforementioned Pokemon Go. Also available is access to a number of games, from “sliding penguins to dancing elves, the residents of the North Pole are having the time of their lives in anticipation for the big day.”

Alongside Present Quest, there are eight other mini-games to be played as well as video to be watched with two more video clips to be made available when the festivities near. The main fun starts on Christmas Eve though, when users can track Santa himself as he crosses the globe and delivers all of his presents to all the good little girls and boys.

Tracking Santa doesn’t need to be done on your Android phone though as support for tablet, Android Wear, TV or any Chromecast-enabled device is also included. Check out the complete changelog in the image below.

iOS users can also join in the fun by using the web version of Google Santa Tracker at santatracker.google.com. Make sure you access the site using Chrome for iOS as for whatever reason it doesn’t seem to work in Safari.

You can say what you want about Google, but its things like Santa Tracker that make us glad they’re around. Keep it up, Google.

Is Your iPhone 6s Eligible For Free Battery Replacement? Find Out Using Apple’s Web Tool

Apple has now launched an official web tool to let you check if your iPhone 6s is eligible for free battery replacement.

After initially acknowledging that a problem exists with certain iPhone 6s models, and subsequently setting up a repair program for affected handsets, Apple has now taken things a step further by releasing the aforementioned tool that lets device owners input their own serial number to see if they are eligible for the program.

iPhone 6s box

Yes, previously there was an unofficial way of checking this too and we reported about it last week, but there was no guarantee of it being 100% accurate. This Apple tool changes that with an inline serial number checker that hits Apple’s database and instantly lets the owner know if the hardware is included in the repair program, and therefore eligible for a free of charge battery replacement under the terms of the initiative.

Users are invited to simply visit the updated webpage here, input the serial number of the iPhone 6s in question – which can be grabbed from the device itself from Settings > General > About – and then take the next step of actually having an Apple representative inspect and repair the device if it is found to be eligible.

In order to fall in that eligibility criteria, the device must be one of the faulty batch to be manufactured during September and October 2015, which means that it was built with a faulty battery manifesting itself by forcing the device to shutdown at what appears to be random intervals.

iPhone 6s repair program

One of the great things about this dedicated repair program is that Apple has not only recognized the issue and responded to it, but has also instantly put in place a process that will hopefully take a boat load of affected devices and have them fixed, either through official channels or an authorized Apple reseller, even if out of warranty.

There is a little bit of bad news however. If your device is in the faulty batch, and is therefore eligible for a replacement battery, but has suffered any external damage, such as a cracked display, then Apple would not offer battery replacement until the other problem is fixed first. The hardware needs to be in full working order, visually and mechanically to be eligible for this program.

Check out the updated webpage for yourself, put in your serial number and see if you need to proceed with a replacement.

Download: Tiny Wings Game Lands On Apple TV

Popular iPhone and iPad game Tiny Wings is finally available to download on Apple TV fourth-generation set-top box.

Apple may owe its success to the iPhone and Mac range of machines, but recently its the fourth-gen. Apple TV that has gotten Apple fans captivated given its speedy evolution. The arrival of Tiny Wings on the tvOS platform is definitely not a surprise addition to the increasingly populated tvOS App Store, but it is one that will excite fans looking to simply unwind on their couch and help a bird slide across hills.

tiny-wings-apple-tv

For those unfamiliar with the game, it’s all about helping a tiny-feathered bird conquer life! Okay that was a bit over dramatic, but since you -the bird- have feathers that don’t support flight, you will find yourself sliding across hills and timing your limited flight to leap across greater distances.

Use the hills as jumps – slide down, flap your wings and fly! At least for a moment – until this annoying gravity brings you back down to earth. But the next hill is waiting for you already. Watch out for the night and fly as fast as you can. Otherwise flying will only be a dream once again.

The game is beautifully designed with over 25 levels that have all been hand drawn, and with the controls being as simple as a timely tap or button press, you can focus on the fantastic-looking worlds. Perhaps even more spectacular is the fact that the developers have packed in “procedural generated graphics will make Tiny Wings look different every day you play.”

tiny-wings-02

To play the game, the developer has added support for using iPhone or iPad as a controller, Siri Remote, and even Apple MFi compatible game controllers. More so, two players can also be play the game using a single Siri Remote.

-simple but skillfull “one button” (ok… maybe “one tap”) arcade game about the dream of flying
-the world is changing every day – so it does in this game! Procedural generated graphics will make “tiny wings” look different every day you play
-upgrade your nest by fulfilling tasks
-Two game modes: “Day Trip” and “Flight School”
-Play as the mama bird or one of her four children
-25 hand-designed levels in the new “Flight School” mode
-iCloud support (even syncs your game between the iPhone & iPad versions)

Tiny Wings will cost you a mere $0.99 on the App Store, and is a universal download for the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Tips To Quickly Redial Last Number On iPhone

Here’s a iOS tip on how you can quickly redial the last number on your iPhone without having to go through the call logs.

Apple’s iOS devices, and more specifically the iPhone, come equipped with a ton of features and functionality that put the device in a class of its own, at least in the eyes of some. However, if you actually took an insight into the most used apps on a device, and the most used functionality, you’d likely find that making calls via the native Phone app is up there at the top.

iphone-dialer

After all, if you take away the smartphone functionality out of iPhone, or any modern phone for that matter, it is just a telephone underneath it all isn’t it?

If you are a regular user of the Phone app, on iPhone then we have a couple of tips to share with you on how you can actually instantly recall or redial the last number or contact with minimal fuss. Interested? Both methods are details below, complete with step by step instructions and screenshot illustration on how to go about using them.

Method One: Using Siri

Step 1: Become good friends with Siri by invoking its help whenever you need some assistance. To begin this process simply press and hold down the Home button to activate Siri. Alternatively, you can even just say “Hey Siri” if you have that particular feature activated.

Step 2: Now, with Siri activated and listening for instructions, simply say “redial” and Siri will take that command and make a call to the last dialed number or contact on your device. This will works with all call types, including FaceTime calls.

And there you have it. A quick and easy way of redialing the last dialed number without having to go through the process of heading into the Phone or Contacts app for doing the same.

Method Two: Using Phone app’s Keypad

Step 1: This method will probably go download as an unwritten “iPhone life hack”. To begin, launch the Phone app on the iPhone and head into the Keypad tab, which should be the fourth tab in the bottom tab bar.

Step 2: When in the Keypad tab, make sure you don’t dial or enter any digits. Instead, simply press the green call button at the bottom of the interface. You’ll immediately see that the number entry point is instantly populated with the last number that was physically dialled from the Keypad. You can then simply press the green call button again to invoke the call and make contact with that number.

It’s worth noting that this message is quick and easy, but it actually only gives you access to the last number that was physically dialled using the Keypad, rather than a contact that was called through the Contacts app.
